Note: The pictures depict a Philips Stereo and its removal from the dash, and the tools
to do so. Other stereos may have been substituted on later models, and the tools for their
removal will differ, however, the fitting of the cd changer is essentially the
same..

Tools needed. |
|
Firstly lift the bonnet of the Freelander, and disconnect the
battery, Earth lead first. |
|
Remove screw covers in seat and then screws, and then covers. Note
picture shows LHD vehicle and therefore passenger seat is the seat were the fixing should
be. However new models now appear to have the changer under the driver's seat |
|
Slide seat forwards and remove screws in rail trim. |
|
Slide seat back slightly. |
|
Remove all four bolts from seat runners. |
|
Tilt seat back carefully and disconnect the pre-tensioner firing
wire. |
|
Remove seat from the vehicle. |
|
Ensure that if the CD changer has a preferred operating position
that this is set to horizontal. |
|
Attach both brackets to CD Changer. |
|
Insert four plastic screw plugs into underneath of seat. Note the
positions. |
|
Attach CD Changer and brackets to underneath of seat. |
|
Undo the three transport bolts from the CD Changer. |
|
Remove the gear lever surround retaining screw. |
|
Lift Gear lever gaiter. |
|
Remove panel under handbrake. |
|
And undo two bolts found underneath |
|
Remove rear ashtray. |
|
And undo two bolts found there. |
|
Lift console over the handbrake to remove, carefully disconnecting
the accessory socket. |
|
Remove the stereo from its dash mounting. |
|
Feed changer cable round the back of the console and through
stereo aperture. |
