Problem -
AUDIBLE METALLIC RATTLE OR BUZZ WHEN TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL
The noise may normally be noticed when manoeuvring at low speeds.
Cause
Power Assisted Steering (PAS) pipe metal ferrule contacting the inner wing.
Action
Where a complaint of the above is confirmed, follow the rectification procedure below.
1. Take rubber isolator ring part number QEC000010 and cut along its length.
2. Apply adhesive (Loctite 406 or STC50546) or locally sourced super glue, to one of the cut edges, place opened isolator ring around the metal part of the PAS pipe and rejoin ends.
3. After allowing time for the adhesive to set, slide the isolator ring down the hose on to the metal ferrule that is found approximately half way along the hose assembly, (see illustration 1).
