Re-Issue Information
Problem -
POOR RADIO RECEPTION
Interference across all wavebands.
Cause
- The aerial upper or lower coaxial lead may have been bent excessively causing internal damage.
- A poor connection may exist between the coaxial extension lead and the aerial adapter.
Action
Where a complaint of the above is confirmed, follow the rectification procedure below to fully connect the coaxial extension lead to the radio adapter. If the problem still persists, replace each coaxial lead in turn. The lead may have internal damage, but appear visually in good condition.
Vehicle must be tested in an area with good radio signals.
Check connection between coaxial extension lead and the radio adapter on vehicles up to VIN 2A 336565:
1. Remove the radio from the fascia, refer to Workshop Manual, part number LRL0350, Electrical, Radio, repair number 86.50.03.
2. Disconnect the aerial coaxial lead from the radio.
3. If the aerial adapter is taped to the coaxial extension lead, then remove the tape.
4. Connect the aerial adapter and the coaxial extension lead fully together.
5. Tape the connection tightly to avoid any movement between the aerial adapter and the coaxial extension lead.
6. Reconnect the aerial coaxial lead to the radio.
7. Switch the radio on and check that the radio has no interference.
8. Re-install the radio.
Coaxial extension lead all vehicles:
1. Temporarily install new coaxial extension lead, refer to Workshop Manual, part number LRL0350, Electrical, Coaxial Lead Extension, repair number 86.50.65.
2. Switch the radio on and check that the radio has no interference.
3. If the radio has no interference secure new coaxial extension lead, and discard coaxial extension lead and aerial adapter, if fitted.
4. Ensure when routing coaxial extension lead that bends are not less than 70 mm radius.
5. If the interference persists revert back to the original extension lead and change the coaxial aerial lead.
Aerial coaxial lead all vehicles:
1. Replace the aerial coaxial lead, refer to Workshop Manual, part number LRL0350, Electrical, Coaxial Lead front aerial, repair number 86.50.24.
2. Switch the radio on and check that the radio has no interference.
3. Ensure when routing aerial coaxial lead that bends are not less than 70 mm radius.
