Problem -
HILL DESCENT CONTROL (HDC) WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED - THROTTLE CABLE
The customer complains that the amber HDC warning light is illuminating.
Cause
Insufficient free play in throttle cable.
Action
Upon customer complaint of the amber HDC light on, or when carrying out any throttle cable related repair, refer to the procedure below to ensure correct setting of the throttle cable free play.
- Refer to Workshop Manual repair number 19.20.05, K1.8 or KV6 section as appropriate, for the adjustment procedure.
- On completion, check free play at the accelerator pedal pad. A free play of 12 ± 1mm is required. If necessary, readjust the cable until this is achieved.
- Should the warning light remain illuminated after the ignition has been turned off and on, use TestBook to remove any fault codes stored in the ECU and to extinguish the warning light.
