WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATE DURING LONG DESCENTS
During long descents in high altitude areas, ( NOT using Hill Descent Control), the following warning lights may illuminate and the engine runs rough.
HILL DESCENT CONTROL (HDC)
ANTI-LOCK BRAKING SYSTEM (ABS)
TRACTION CONTROL (TC)
The condition can be temporarily rectified by stopping the vehicle and switching off the ignition. This powers down the MEMS Engine Control Module (ECM), thus resetting it.
Cause
MEMS ECM oversensitive to extreme drops in manifold pressure at high altitude.
Action
Replace ECM with modified part MKC104393.
- Refer to Workshop Manual repair number 18.30.01 for ECM replacement information.
- The new ECM must be programmed with the Security Code from the vehicle Central Control Unit (CCU) using TestBook, before the engine can be started.
- Having completed ECM installation, the throttle initialisation procedure MUST be carried out to ensure correct engine idle behavior. Switch the ignition to position II and fully depress and release the accelerator pedal 5 times.
