UNDER BONNET NOISE BETWEEN 2000 AND 2500 RPM
The customer complains of a resonance noise in the above engine speed range.
Cause
The hose which connects the air cleaner intake duct to the resonator box is incorrectly positioned, resulting in the resonator box being forced into body panel contact.
Action
Ensure that the resonator hose is correctly fitted to the intake duct as detailed below:
- Referring to Illustration 1, locate point A on the air cleaner. The resonator hose will be found behind the left hand headlamp.
- Check the dimension at point A between the end of the resonator hose and the point where the hose stub blends into the air intake duct.
- Ilustration 2 shows the correct dimension at B (9 mm) and the incorrect at C (24 mm).
- Confirm that the hose is positioned to dimension B. Reposition as necessary.
