Problem -
WATER INGRESS INTO LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT - TAILDOOR VARIOUS
Wet boot carpet or condensation in security box.
Cause
Either or both of the following:
- Inner door panel lower fixings (lokuts) are not sealed, this can allow water to pass via door cavity and enter vehicle interior.
- Water leaking past poorly sealed water shedder.
Action
Remove tail door trim casing, (repair number 76.34.10).
Lower plastic fixings (lokuts) replacement:
Referring to illustration, remove and discard the 4 lokut nuts from the lower left hand side of the rear door panel. Replace lokuts for later part number EYH 100420, these modified parts have a foam seal incorporated to prevent water entry.
Large water shedder replacement:
Check plastic door shedder for holes etc, check also shedder to door panel butyl sealing bead for gaps.
If gaps in sealing bead are found, locally reseal with butyl sealant.
If door shedder is damaged it must be replaced with latest part ELD 100670.
Small water shedder replacement:
If the small water shedder (located in corner adjacent to check strap) is damaged, replace with new shedder AWR 5166. Replacement of this will first require removal of the taildoor damper arm and bracket.
Locally water test to confirm satisfactory repair.
Shedder fitment care points:
- To obtain an effective seal when fitting a new water shedder, ensure that the water shedder and door contact surface are at room temperature: 18°C to 30°C.
- When fitting a new water shedder it is essential that no creases are present particularly along the lower edge and that the adhesive areas are thoroughly rubbed down onto a clean door surface.
- Carefully pierce holes for door casing retainers with a bradawl and ensure that retainers hold shedder against door.
