Re-Issue Information
Problem -
WATER INGRESS INTO REAR FOOTWELL - REAR PASSENGER DOOR
- Wet floor carpet adjacent to either rear passenger door.
- Wet rear passenger door casing lower edge.
- water running down door casing
Cause
Either of the following:
- Rear passenger door shedder poorly fitted or damaged.
- Fixed glass door panel drain hole blocked
Action
Diagnosis:
- If water was reported to have been seen on lower door edge or if leak source cannot be detected, replace door water shedder and door pull lokuts only, see ‘Water shedder replacement’.
- If water was reported to be on rear door trim casing surface or around the trim casing upper or rear edge, then refer to ‘Clearing fixed glass drain holes’.
Water shedder replacement:
Remove rear door water shedder (repair number 76.34.28) Replace door shedder for latest part as detailed in PARTS INFORMATION .
Shedder fitment care points:
- To obtain an effective seal when fitting a new water shedder, ensure that the water shedder and door contact surface are at room temperature: 18° C to 30° C.
- When fitting a new water shedder It is essential that no creases are present particularly along the lower edge and that the adhesive areas are thoroughly rubbed down onto a clean door surface.
- Carefully pierce holes for door casing retainers with a bradawl and ensure that retainers hold shedder against door.
Before re-fitting trim casing replace the 2 door pull ‘lokut’ nuts for later part number EYH 100420. These incorporate seals to prevent water entry.
Locally water test to confirm satisfactory repair.
Clearing fixed glass seal drain hole:
Carefully remove the inner and outer glazing seal and the upper quarter light to frame fixing, (repair number 76.31.14). Turn the lower section of the outer fixed glazing seal over, this should reveal the seal drain hole. If hole is blocked with rubber, clear through and re-fit seal.
Locally water test to confirm satisfactory repair.
