Problem -
CORROSION AROUND THE TAIL DOOR UPPER CORNERS
Cause
Due to a tooling condition, a burr is sometimes formed on the panel edge. The burr suffers poor paint coverage and corrodes.
Action
Where a complaint of the above is confirmed, follow the rectification procedure below to repair the corroded area.
1. Remove the tail door waist seal, refer to Workshop Manual, Part Number LRL0350 (3rdEdition), Doors, Seal-Waist inner-Tail Door, Repair Number 76.31.67.
2. Remove the sharp corner ('A' in illustration 1) and burr ('B' in illustration 1) from the upper edge of tail door skin panel.

3. Paint bare metal with etch phosphate ('A' in illustration 2).

4. Re-paint repaired area with touch-up pen.
5. Allow the paint to dry.
6. Apply under body sealant to the repaired area ('B' in illustration 2).
7. Repeat the process on the opposite side of the tail door.
8. Fit the tail door waist seal. Refer to Workshop Manual, Part Number LRL0350 (3rdEdition), Doors, Seal- Waist inner-Tail Door, Repair Number 76.31.67.
