Problem -
INVOLUNTARY OPENING OF REAR QUARTER VENT
When the rear quarter vent catch is closed, the catch fails to remain in the closed position, which results in the vent springing open again.
Cause
Variations in the setting of the vent glass position.
Action
Where a customer complaint of the above is identified, reposition the vent glass using the following procedure:
- From inside the vehicle, loosen the top and bottom Torx screws securing the vent hinges to the body, (arrowed in illustration 1).
- Close the catch and push the vent as far towards the rear of the aperture as possible.
- Retain the vent in this position and retighten the two Torx screws. Should the catch still spring open when closed, continue as follows:
- Completely remove the BOTTOM hinge.
- Reform the two 90° bends of the hinge, (A in illustration 2), to a greater angle, (similar to that shown at B in illustration 2).
- Refit the hinge, ensuring that the vent is retained as far to the rear of the aperture as possible.
- Confirm satisfactory operation and alignment of the vent glass.
