TRANSIT PROTECTION FILM REMOVAL
Cause
During May 1998, transit protection film was introduced for certain markets. The film is applied to the bonnet and drivers door panel on all affected vehicles. In addition, all Freelander models have film applied to the roof panel and to the 3 door softback.
Action
The transit protection film MUST be removed from vehicles no later than 200 days from date of despatch. The removal procedure is as follows:
1. Peel the film from the corners, pulling the film back over itself by 180° to the panel.
NOTE: If the panels are hot, (panel temperature in excess of 45° C), the temperature must be reduced by spraying water onto the film surface. This will ensure that no adhesive remains on the panel surface.
2. Wash vehicle with water. Wipe along the edges of previously protected panels with panel cleaner to remove any adhesive trace which may have bled from the film edges.
3. The film is a biodegradeable polypropylene material and is suitable for landfill disposal. Your Environmental Agency should be consulted for specific local requirements.
