Problem -
REAR SEAT SQUAB INOPERATIVE - RELEASE CABLE TRAPPED
Rear seat squab(s) cannot be lowered.
Cause
Rear seat squab release cables too short. Cables can become trapped between the seat foam and frame.
Action
Where a customer complains of difficulty in releasing the rear folding seat squabs, check the operation of the squab release levers.
If either cannot be operated effectively, replace the lever and cable mechanism from the affected seat.
Refer to PARTS INFORMATION for details of a revised release lever and cable assembly which incorporates a longer release cable. All vehicles from VIN WA 601416 have these parts fitted.
It is likely that the release lever escutcheons will be damaged during removal. It is therefore suggested that these parts are ordered along with the cable mechanisms, (see PARTS INFORMATION ).
Refer to the Workshop Manual, repair no 78.80.05 (RH squab) or 78.80.16 (LH squab) for guidance. These repair descriptions cover latch replacement but may be partially followed to provide cable replacement information.
Note:
Before replacing cover, renew cable tie to secure new cable outer to the latch body. Refer to illustration for correct position.
